Department of Psychology, New School for Social Research and Lang College

 

The Psychology Department of the New School for Social Research and Lang College seeks a full-time faculty member at the Associate or tenure-track Assistant Professor level. The faculty member will be part of the Cognitive, Social, and Developmental program, which emphasizes the role context plays in human cognition and behavior. The program has a deep commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education and offers a supportive environment for carrying out innovative research. Applicants from any of the diverse areas of interest that would fall under the rubric of Cognitive, Social, and Developmental Psychology are welcome to apply. We especially encourage those with a social psychological background to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will be engaged in a viable research program. Pedagogical responsibilities will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as mentoring PhD students. The successful applicant will have service and advising responsibilities at Lang College as well as the graduate school, the New School for Social Research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Should have completed their PhD by the time of their appointment
  • Have a well-defined and sustainable research program

Assistant-level applicants:

  • An active program of research with strong potential for excellence
  • Previous experience teaching at the undergraduate level and supervising students in a research setting is not necessary, but preferred
  • Commitment to a collegial departmental atmosphere for students and faculty

Associate-level applicants (all qualifications for assistant-level applicants plus):

  • An active program of research with strong evidence of excellence, including a history of impactful publications and/or successful grantspersonship
  • An established record of teaching and excellence in mentoring

WORK MODE

  • On-Campus Position: Faculty are expected to work on-campus due to the nature of the work in accordance with the University policies as set forth in the Full-Time Faculty Handbook. #LI-ONSITE

SALARY RANGE

Assistant Prof. $85K – $100K per annum

Associate Prof. $100K – $120K per annum
