Department of Psychology, Brock University

 

The psychology department at Brock University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track teaching-intensive position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective January 1, 2026. The workload of a Teaching-Intensive Faculty member shall normally be 60% teaching, 20% service, and 20% research/scholarly/creative activities.

 

This position has a 3.0 credit teaching load. A half-credit (0.5 load) course at Brock University normally involves 36 hours of instruction. The successful candidate will teach some of the psychology department’s required undergraduate statistics and research methods courses. Specifically, the teaching assignments for this position will include annual responsibility for two full-credit sections of PSYC 2F23, a 2nd-year psychology course entitled Statistics and Research Design in the Behavioural Sciences, with one section offered in the fall-winter terms and one in the spring-summer terms. The remaining 1.0 credit of the assigned teaching load (one full-credit or two half-credit courses) would normally include PSYC 4P08 (Data Science for Academic and Applied Research; 0.5 credit) and other courses relating to statistics and research methods, such as PSYC 3P39 (Computer Data Analysis; 0.5 credit),PSYC 3F40 (Psychological Research; 1.0 credit), or PSYC 3P30 (Critical Thinking in Psychology; 0.5 credit).

 

Qualifications

We seek candidates for a teaching-intensive position in the psychology department at Brock University with demonstrated experience and effectiveness teaching university undergraduate statistics and research methods courses in Psychology. Applicants should have a completed Ph.D. in Psychology. The position is open to applicants with a research specialization in any area. Priority will be given to candidates with teaching experience in undergraduate psychology courses on statistics and research methods. Experience with SPSS, R, Excel, and JAMOVI is an asset.
