Department of Psychology, Kenyon College

Kenyon College invites applications for a tenure-track position in developmental psychology to begin July 2025. We seek candidates with a commitment to teaching excellence and an active research program in developmental psychology. The department values familiarity with best practices in inclusive teaching and the ability to mentor undergraduate research students.

The standard teaching expectation is 5 courses per year. Preference will be given to applicants with interest in teaching Educational Psychology, Child Psychopathology, or other developmental classes that complement our current offerings. In addition, the position includes teaching either introductory psychology or research methods in psychology. Some psychology faculty also teach in interdisciplinary programs such as American Studies, Gender and Sexuality studies, Latino/a Studies, and Neuroscience. Psychology faculty are expected to develop active research programs with Kenyon students that contribute to the field. Faculty research is supported by generous startup funding, a junior leave, and annual support for professional expenses. In-house grants and lab facilities are also available to support faculty research.

A complete application will include 1) a cover letter; 2) a curriculum vita; 3) a statement of teaching philosophy (maximum 1500 words); 4) a statement of research and scholarship  (maximum 1500 words);  5) unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts and 6) contact information for three references. A competitive dossier would demonstrate why you would thrive teaching at Kenyon, how your research will succeed in the context of a liberal arts college, and how you will promote a culturally and intellectually diverse and inclusive educational environment. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon’s employment website: https://careers.kenyon.edu. Review of applications will begin on October 15  and continue until the position is filled.  A Ph.D is preferred; however, applicants who are ABD will be considered. Please direct questions to Sarah Murnen, Search Committee Chair (psychologysearch@kenyon.edu).
