Postdoc in Linguistic and social aspects of early phonological acquisition at Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris
The Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of early language acquisition, specifically the first year of life. The successful candidate will work under the direction of Sharon Peperkamp and Sho Tsuji on the development of phonetic and phonological representations as well as the role of social cues therein. One part of the project involves standard in-lab experimental methods; the other part requires co-developing innovative interactive toys and applying them in an at-home training paradigm.
We are looking for a developmental experimental scientist with a background in cognitive science, psycholinguistics, linguistics, and/or experimental psychology. A completed PhD is a prerequisite. The initial contract will be for one year and is renewable for a second year.
Salary: between 36k€ and 40k€ per year, according to experience.

Starting date: January 1st 2025, or shortly thereafter
Requirements:
– PhD in relevant field (Cognitive Science, Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, Psychology)
– Specialization in language development, including experience with infant/child lab experiments
– Programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab)
– Advanced knowledge of statistical analyses (e.g. mixed effects modeling in R)
Desired assets: – Knowledge of phonetics/phonology
– Proficiency in French
– Enjoying developing new research methods
