Advanced Analytics & AI for Communication Science Group, Harvard University
Are you graduating, recently graduated, or running out of postdoc funding? Are you a strong writer who knows a lot about language acquisition and is pretty handy with R? Do you want some exciting massive datasets (100,000 subjects each) that are just waiting for a strong writer who is handy with R to churn out some publications/ Do you want a mentor who has no other postdocs and only 2 graduate students so is available when you need him?
If so, this position is for you. Topics include vocabulary development in bilinguals and monolinguals, the relationship between social cognition abilities and pragmatics, L1-L2 transfer, and the semantics of lexical gender. There is also room for the post-doc to initiate their own papers using existing data. Data-collection to fill in gaps is possible, but the goal here is clear a backlog of unpublished data, not add to it!
- Strong writing skills – preferably demonstrated through prior publications
- Strong R skills
- A PhD in language acquisition or a very closely related topic
Post-doc salary starts at $75k. Hybrid or fully remote work is possible. Strong preference for someone who can start this winter, but a summer start will be considered.
Right now, we have guaranteed funding for 9 months. We might be able to extend that, but this is really a position for someone who wants to churn out some papers to include in their job applications this fall.
