Position Description: The Centre for Child Development, Mental Health, and Policy (CCDMP) at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow position in a multidisciplinary research environment. The fellow will lead the development and implementation of a training initiative to help parents and educators support the mental health and social-emotional development of children aged 9–12 and 13–15 years. This role offers opportunities to collaborate with policy and practice leaders across sectors serving children and families (e.g., child and family centres, child care services, child welfare, and child and youth mental health). The appointment, to start immediately, is for 1 year and renewable based on project needs and performance.
Duties: The post-doctoral fellow will oversee intervention development, data collection and management, data analysis, and the preparation of conference presentations, scientific articles, policy reports, and grant applications. Responsibilities also include assisting with the development and delivery of training curricula, supervising research assistants, creating knowledge translation materials, and collaborating with researchers, policy and practice leaders, and community partners.
Qualifications: The successful applicant will hold a doctoral degree in clinical child psychology, applied developmental psychology, education, or a related field in the social, behavioural, or health sciences. The applicant should also demonstrate a strong interest in community-level interventions and partnerships and outstanding statistical skills. They should have experience supervising research assistants, evidence of independent scholarship, outstanding writing skills, and publication productivity in peer-reviewed journals. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is an asset: social-emotional development in children facing adversity, child and family mental health, community engagement and social service delivery, quantitative and qualitative research methods, professional training curriculum development, adult education, assessment development, longitudinal analysis, and intervention research.
