The faculty of the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for one full time clinical faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor to begin August 16, 2025. This individual will serve as the inaugural Director of the Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Clinic which leverages established expertise in diagnostic and treatment for children and adults with autism or related disorders. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
We are seeking exceptional applicants with clinical and research experience in autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders to advance the mission of the Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopment Research Center (CAN) to improve the lives of families and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, intellectual disability, learning and genetic disorders by providing diagnostic and treatment services, training the next generation of clinician scientists, integrating with the community and contributing to research.  CAN is an interdisciplinary research center of excellence dedicated to advancing research, training, and community support for individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders. The Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Clinic will be affiliated with the Psychology Services Center, the training facility for clinical-community and school psychology doctoral students in the Department of Psychology.
This is a 9-month full-time position with primary responsibilities to provide leadership as the clinic director and to teach 2 courses in the fall and spring semesters. Coursework will focus on clinical training primarily, but not limited to, of doctoral students in the Department of Psychology.  In addition, 3-months of summer salary will be provided to fulfill leadership, research and clinical duties including clinical supervision and the development or maintenance of new training or research initiatives (e.g., establish an APA internship, collaborate across USC or state agencies to advance training and direct services, serve as a Principal or Co-Investigator on extramural awards). The clinic director will report directly to the Executive Director of CAN and will be a member of the CAN Executive Committee, the CAN Community Advisory Board and the graduate training program most relevant to their expertise (e.g., school or clinical-community).
Qualifications include the following:
  1. Doctoral degree (Ph. D. or Psy D.) in Clinical, School or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program by the time of the appointment
  2. Licensed or license-eligible within one year after starting the appointment in the state of South Carolina
  3. Experience in clinical supervision
  4. Research skills reflected in publications and/or funding in autism or a related field.
  5. Expertise in diagnostic and evidence-based intervention for autism and neurodevelopmental disorders.
