Infancy

Infancy is committed to publish cutting edge research that addresses issues that are of utmost interest to our diverse readership. To this end, we are pleased to consider proposals for special issues or collections that explore novel and cutting-edge approaches or areas of inquiry within the realm of infancy research. We invite submissions that present a fresh perspective, advance theoretical frameworks, or contribute significant empirical insights to the field. We particularly welcome proposals that address historically challenging areas (and solutions to those challenges), examine infancy in diverse or underrepresented populations, and provide an outlet for research from researchers from around the world.

These topics may include emerging new theories or issues in the field of infancy, new perspectives on topics that have been central to the field for decades, advances in methodological or computational approaches to the study of infancy, or topics that address challenges in the field. Infancy is particularly open to proposals that increase representation of research topics, subject populations, or researchers. Proposals will be considered on a rolling basis.

Each special issue or collection will begin with an overview paper authored by the Guest Editors, which will include experts representing various theoretical and empirical perspectives, followed by a series of peer-reviewed papers submitted through the journal and handled by the editors of the special issue or collection.

Proposals should be 1 page that includes the following:

  • a clear outline of the special issue’s theme, rationale, and objectives.
  • brief biographies of the Guest Editors, highlighting their expertise in the proposed topic area.
  • a list of example potential contributions (note: these are simply examples and should not be planned or committed contributions. The goal is to demonstrate that there is the potential for sufficient contributions for the special issue).

For inquiries and submissions, please contact Lisa Oakes, Editor-in-Chief at lmoakes@ucdavis.edu. We look forward to receiving your innovative proposals and advancing our understanding of development in infancy.
