Journal of Experimental Child Psychology

Journal of Experimental Child Psychology has a call for submissions to their Special Issue on “Cognitive offloading in children: Development, mechanisms and implications”: https://www.sciencedirect.com/special-issue/323403/cognitive-offloading-in-children-development-mechanisms-and-implications.

The aim of this special issue is to bring together diverse perspectives on children’s cognitive offloading using varied theoretical and methodological approaches. We invite empirical contributions from developmental psychology, cognitive science and education exploring children’s cognitive offloading and related constructs, including embodied and extended cognition, the use of physical manipulatives, and the impact of digital “thinking tools” like tablets, smartphones, and AI models on learning and problem-solving.

The journal’s submission system is currently open and is scheduled to close on April 30th, 2026. Please reach out to us via email if you have any questions about the suitability of your potential contribution or concerns about the proposed timeline. Manuscripts can be submitted using the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology online submission process, with “VSI: Cognitive offloading in children” selected as the “Article Type”.
